GET ON THE WAITLIST

Imagine what it would be like to…

Feel confident about your watercolor painting skills so you stick with it instead of hiding your paints away for weeks at a time

Get a break from the monotony of your everyday life and get back to the creative part of your being

Rekindle your creative hobby so you can see the world with different eyes and start living intentionally

Learn something new, see yourself improve, and finally be proud of the art you create

Finally make the time to do something for yourself that will make you feel accomplished and proud.

Remember what it feels like to be relaxed, motivated, and inspired whenever you sit down to paint

Know that you can control watercolor every time you put paint to paper, making your experience fun and enjoyable

Yes, all this is possible!

You’re just not there yet because you’re still making these three common watercolor mistakes...

ONE

You think the only way to feel confident as an artist is to be born with some innate talent.

Have you ever been told by someone that your art “wasn’t that good”? Those false ideas can stick with you and make you feel like you’ll never be good enough. But it’s time to reinvent yourself and create your own artistic identity.

Real confidence as an artist comes from learning the foundations of watercolor first and then putting them into practice second.
And when you start taking your hobby seriously by investing in the right supplies and making time to paint consistently, you will start to see your artwork improve.

Two

You’re using the wrong supplies because you don’t think you should upgrade until you’re “better at painting.”

Want to know a secret? Low quality supplies are the main reason you’re struggling to get the hang of watercolor painting.

What’s really going to set you up for success is investing in quality supplies that will support you on your journey. Not only will your finished artwork look better, but you’ll actually be able to enjoy the process and won’t feel like you lack talent.

True talent comes from practice. And having the right supplies from the start will make you want to take out your paints and practice more often.

Three

You think everything should be “perfect” when you sit down to paint.

Putting so much pressure on yourself to create something “perfect” each time you paint is causing unnecessary stress on yourself. Art is about reflection and expressing yourself in a way that can’t be done with words.

The outcome of your painting doesn’t define you or your worth. So get out of your own way, make messes, and learn. Because that’s the only way you’ll improve as an artist.

What happens when you give into these false beliefs and fears?

You give up on painting. You tell yourself that you’ll never be good at it and you store your supplies away for weeks at a time because you can’t find the motivation or inspiration to keep going.

Even though you know that watercolor painting is a great way for you to be creative and do something for yourself. Something that brings you joy and helps you relax at the end of a stressful day.

But you can’t relax if you feel like you can’t control your paints, right?!

By using the correct techniques and approach to watercolor painting, you can…

...feel confident about your artistic skills and abilities

...control the water and paint on your paper to create realistic artwork

...translate a reference image or something in your head onto your blank paper

...make watercolor painting a normal part of your daily routine

...create beautiful artwork in less time

...do something that makes you happy and brings you joy

You don’t have to continue feeling frustrated and overwhelmed when you sit down to paint. By learning how to control watercolor, you can paint anything you put your mind to.

I Want In!

Here’s a look at what you’ll learn on your road trip:

Chapter 1:

Preparing for the Journey

Mastering your watercolor supplies

Paper that buckles. Paint that looks chalky. No one wants to spend time painting only to have their finished piece turn out like that. The key to a successful watercolor painting is to use the right supplies from the start.

On this trip, you’ll learn:

  • Quality over quantity: The importance of using high-quality supplies and how they can enhance your finished piece of art
  • What to look for when choosing your paper, brushes, and paint
  • Where to shop for quality watercolor supplies, no matter your budget
  • How to break in your new brushes and paint so that it’s easier to get started with painting
  • How to setup your art space in a way that will inspire you to get started

Chapter 2:

Exploring the World of Watercolor

The Art of Mixing Colors

Tired of mixing colors and always coming out with some muddied version of what you were hoping for? That’s a common problem, but it’s something you can easily figure out by using color theory and everything else you’ll learn on this trip.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to use a limited palette to create a rainbow of color options
  • How to use the color wheel to mix your colors confidently
  • Tips for avoiding muddy colors when mixing
  • The appropriate way to use water in your colors to create different hues
  • Ways to control the lightness and darkness of your colors
  • The characteristics of your paint and their effects on your finished artwork

The Art of Painting Evenly

Also known as using flat washes to create an even area of color. This is a perfect technique for painting skies, landscapes, or simple shapes that you want to make look evenly flat.

On this trip, you’ll learn:

  • Techniques for controlling the paint-to-water ratio on your paper to create areas of darker or lighter colors
  • Two different flat wash techniques that you can use while painting
  • Ways to avoid a streaky or blotchy look in your finished artwork
  • Water control that will allow you to create a flawless, solid colors on your paper
  • How to layer your paint without creating a mess
  • How to create the illusion of depth on paper using the flat wash technique

The Art of Blending Your Colors

Gradient washes are another foundational watercolor technique and one of my favorites! This technique allows you to transition the background of your painting from an area of darker color to a lighter color and is perfect for adding atmosphere to your landscape paintings.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • When to use gradient washes to achieve a realistic look to your finished piece of art
  • How to load your brush up with paint and water to achieve this graded coloring effect
  • How to use your brush to fade the color on your paper
  • How to create distance in your painting by focusing on color composition

The Art of Balancing Water & Paint

One of the most versatile approaches to watercolor painting, the wet-into-wet technique, allows you to paint loosely and without any need for precise definition. Although you won’t have full control with this technique, it allows you to create soft edges in your finished pieces.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to add texture and shadows to your paintings to make them look more realistic
  • Ways to create texture in your paintings
  • The best times to use the wet-into-wet technique when painting with watercolor
  • Water control techniques that will give you more control over this painting technique

Chapter 3:

Reach Your Destination by Implementing What You’ve Learned

The Art of Depth & Illusion

Now that you’ve learned all the foundational watercolor techniques, it’s time to put them into action. This is where you’ll learn how to create your own artwork from scratch without relying on outside tutorials.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to plan out your painting
  • How to pick a reference image that brings you joy
  • How to approach your reference image as you get ready to paint
  • Which techniques to use while painting to make your art look more interesting

Here’s a look at this roadmap in action…

When you have this knowledge, put it into practice, and then continue to work at it, you’ll find increased confidence in yourself as an artist and what you can achieve.

Meet Your Instructor...

Hey, I’m Mako!

Watercolor artist and founder of Makoccino, where I help people find and share their own creative voices through watercolor painting.

For as long as I can remember, painting has been a way for me to express myself and do something creative at the same time. But I wasn’t a natural-born artist.

I learned the foundational watercolor techniques while studying in school and fell in love with the way it felt to put paint to paper. Painting became a way for me to freely express myself and create something beautiful at the same time.

And I’m passionate about helping others do the same.

Over the past decade, I’ve devoted my time to my YouTube channel to help other artists learn techniques and skills that will allow them to grow as artists and find joy in the art of watercolor.

If you’re ready to feel confident, relaxed, and proud of the art you produce.
